I heard a devotion on this passage this week, about the yoke is easy and the burden is light...
I've read that many times, and heard it too... but this was explained in a different way...
The yoke is the harness/strap that will fit on your shoulders.. each of our shoulders are different~ some are skinny some are broad, etc etc., but the yoke that we are given fits completely to us... and I always thought of "my burden is light" was my burden... like...
what I'm going through, or the burdens of 101 Grove.....
but the way I heard it this week~ was God will place a burden on your heart, like youth group, or the homeless, or the family that your'e not sure if they have enough to eat... and if he places the burden on you~ it's yours... like we all have jobs to do for the better of the kingdom.. and don't be messing with anyone else's job.. He used the example of : if its his job is to cook the stringbeans for the homeless guys, don't be coming over and saying that your Aunt Birdee makes a better recipe.. Let the person that was given the "burden" of cooking the beans do it and do it to the best of their ability... that God doesn't place the burden and not give you the tools to follow it through.
and I'm now looking at it this way, it's not a burden, like you are dreading it... it's a opportunity .. that God has placed in your heart to see a need and follow through.
